I have a copy of that book and would say it's worth at least $20. I
also have a printout of of the Hackmann's supplement. There are some
parts in the hurdy-gurdy section that don't really work, but since your
neighbor (me, aka Mr Narcolepsy) has made them and is pretty well aware
of the pitfalls, you could make a decent instrument from those plans. I
was going to offer to let you look at mine to decide if it was worth
buying or not, but i get I got here too late... Hollar before you get
started, Someday we can  apply your expertise to the bagpipe section.
