I would recommend D/G for Irish etc tunes. Most of them are in the range from D up to a or b. I play most of my irish stuff on wooden flute or northumbrian pipes, which both have a bottom note of D, so stuff crosses over very easily when i try it on the 'gurdy. My previous 'gurdy was a G/C and i found i was jumping octaves way too often.
hope this helps derek ----- Original Message ----- From: Anthony Shostak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Friday, January 5, 2007 12:33 pm Subject: [HG] Irish? > Hi, folks. > > I'm sure this has come up before, but I'm wondering what your > collective > wisdom is regarding G/C or D/G for playing Irish and related > tunes?
