(& now for something comepletely different...)Actually a G tuned Gurdy
is a C instrument...it's just that 'Do" is up the keyboard a bit.
Playing C to C is a major scale on the "white" keys. (Playing from C to
shining C, everyone will say, "Oh, he must be American" and they'll
ignore you anyway). Starting with open G you get Mixolydian, etc.
