Seth,

You have a lot of advice (from many people much more experienced
than I!) but I thought I'd add one comment that I don't think has come
up yet - perhaps its a bit obvious. If the problem is one of balance and
your setup re rosin/pressure etc is good you may be able to fix it by using
a slightly heavier chanter string which will tend to be louder (more mass
and more tension).
