Hello,
Casto Sampedro is an very interesting book, but
now its sold out...
there is some news of a new edition revised, but
at the moment there isn't an oficial confirmation...

I think it's very interesting, because the book edited
is only a few sheets of his material that is in
the Pontevedra museum (Galicia)
here, in this museum is where are placed the hurdys
of Perfecto Feijoo...
you can look one in this page:

bye

Where do you get this Galician Songbook??

Dear list,
I added some MIDI tunes taken from the Galician Songbook by Casto Sampedro
Folgar to my web page. The bulk of this book is a collection of tunes for
bagpipes (gaita) and snare drum on G-C drones: wild circle dances to a heavy
6/8 rhythm ("muiñeiras") and many more. It includes also the four hurdy-gurdy
tunes you already know through Marcello's book.

Please do not take too seriously those nasty MIDI sounds.
By the way, I agree to Simon's fight against windmills. There is nothing
"Celtic" to this bagpipe music. And those references to Celtic-speaking people
in Galicia up to the 15th century are absolutely false. (But the little
pre-Roman round fortresses seem indeed Celtic).
Greetings from Geneva,
Wenceslao Martinez Calonge
