Talking about cases, I have searched a couple of times for a maker who does work with light materials like carbon or glass fiber, unsuccessfully. Any ideas? Anyway I guess the price for such a custom-made case would be really high.

Your best bet would be to find yourself a custom boat builder; at least here in Rhode Island, that is who is doing the most carbon fiber work.

As an example, here is one local place: <http://www.clearcarbon.com/> Yes, they make carbon fiber cello's.

If you're handy, you could make a case yourself. CF isn't that hard to work with. I've been doing a little experimenting at work; we bought our material from:

http://www.dragonplate.com

There are many other suppliers, DP just happened to have exactly what I needed in stock and cheap.

West Marine makes really good epoxy.

I wonder how a carbon fiber gurdy would sound?
