Also, to let you know, I bought a Thomastic Vision for my 'low low' D chanter as you suggested. Unfortunately the outer winding rubbed against the wheel and wore right through. I might buy another string, but be more careful this time to use the cotton wool right across the string to protect it from the wheel.
