We once used a plate boundary mic to good effect with a gurdy. Placed it on the floor in front of the player. Radio Shack used to do one but I've a feeling it may no longer be available but you might find one on Ebay of course. Failing that Condenser, as although it will sound toppy to start with you will at least have that content there and then be able to
trim it with EQ.

Subject: [HG] miking a gurdy

Hello everyone,
I know we've had this discussion before - but perhaps those people who have done some recording can recommend a mike for a gurdy for recording purposes- nothing too expensive please. I have a deep, loud vielle - actually more like a tekkero in sound. Should I get a dynamic mike or a condensor mike? I have maximum $150 to spend on this mike. I want to make clean, listenable recording.

Thank you,
Jocelyn
