Well, right there on p.57 is a picture of it (3 actually). You could
probably get by without angling the shaft. But be aware of that, it may
call for it. I haven't seen those plans, but as I understand things,
the period is "about" right. If the plans specify an angled shaft, OK,
if they don't , don't worry about it, there are some very adequate
mills out there (and in here) that have a parallel shaft. 

The wheel BEVEL is critical, but it is one of the last steps. After you
get the strings installed, etc,etc... I force myself to think of it as
a heavenly activity, because it takes forever.... it's about as good of
an excuse to enjoy (memorize) your favorite CDs as you are going to
find.

Don't let me scare you, this one of those "4 armed is 4 warned" things.
It's not hard, it's just boring, as, I suspect, this msg is becoming...
if you know your way around a lathe pretty well, you might be able to
do it quicker, but I don't, so I couldn't say.
