Sylvain,

Unfortunately I can’t tell if both music styles are similar. I just know
this one Galician tune to play and I have some CDs from Galicia, but I am no
Celtic expert – I love the celtic songs (not necessarily the Celtic dance
music like jigs’n’reels. I highly appreciate the virtuosity of the musicians
who play in high speed, but on the long hand this kind of music tends boring
me. So Jez Lowe and Jake Walton are from my point of view more Celtic
influenced, but more singer- songwriters. I much enjoy Celtic groups like
Planxty, Silly Wizard, etc etc upt to the modern groups (if you allow me to
subsume the English, Scottish and Irish groups as *Celtcic*) if they blend
songs with some instrumentals. But, as I said, I would not feel able to
judge if Celtic and Galician music is similar. But I highly recommend to buy
“Two à Roue”, since I quote Jake as one of the best although under-estimated
hurdy-gurdy-players. He has a very delicate sound and a very sublte way of
using the trumpet string. The mentioned CD shows that the Galician tunes fit
perfectly to the Celtic influenced songs. And the songs of Jez and Jake are
simply outstanding.

Thanks to all listening to our music.

All the best,

Uli

Great songs!!!

Do you have the dots to them? Is your alto made by Weichselbaumer? Or is it
a Galician HG?

Dear All,

I also wish you a Merry Christmas days and a very happy, musical New Year,

For those who are interested to listen to my "sound". Yesterday I uploaded
two tunes and a song made in a home recording with my hobby band to the open
mic section of Folk Alley (a great folk music internet radio station).

Search for the group called "Gambrinus" under:
