I am a complete neophyte regarding the Hurdy-Gurdy. I have been interested
in the instrument for some time though I have not had the opportunity to see
one "in person", much less play.

I live in Northeastern Ohio (south of Cleveland) and am unaware of any
players/experts in the area. It would be great to be able to talk with
someone nearby who could offer some direction regarding purchasing and
learning to play the Hurdy-Gurdy. Lacking that, I am hoping that someone (or
everyone) on this list will offer some advice.

Specifically, if anyone knows of a player in my general area and suggestions
for instruments available for purchase in a reasonable time-frame (0-6
months). I would like to find a well made instrument that would be playable
by a beginner but of a quality that will remain satisfying as my skills
grow. I have in mind a budget of $2500 (or less) but am willing to spend
more if necessary to obtain the "right" instrument.

My present interest is not necessarily focused on any particular historical
path or type of music. I hope to discover those things along the way.
Hereto, any suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you in advance for any and all thoughts, ideas, recommendations, and
sage advice.
