The higher string was a 109, I think. The lower string was a Thomastik viola C. I don't know how this stringing would work on another instrument, but we were really pleased with how the Chinook sounded with it. It really works with the resonance of the instrument. What one doesn't get from the sample is the volume - the Chinook really makes it presence known with authority. ;-) Alden
