No cringing from this neck of the woods Lisa!! I wish I had an instrument!
  And you can play!

I am just out here - hanging out with Hurdy Gurdy Envy, waiting to buy
something so I can learn to play.......meanwhile it's just me and the dulcimer
and HG List .......

You sound like you have proven there is music out there for all of us to go
and create!
  Well done!

Yes, I'm in the Bay area.

I mostly do medieval repertoire on an extremely cranky
Kelischek Minnesinger.

I can hear the cringing from here by some of the
purists who have better instruments. However, the
instrument is what I could afford. Through dint of
ignorant trial and error, I have managed to get what I
freely admit is a cheap student instrument to produce
music and I have successfully entertained people with
it. I also have no qualms about taking it to outdoor
events and subjecting it to the elements.

Do I want a better instrument some day? Sure, but
right now I have to eat. In the meantime, I get to
play!
