For those who are interested, here is the link to the sound file of
Christopher Hogwood playing the HG from the massive David Munrow
set of ancient instruments records together with the picture from
the book that was included.. It's recorded off the vinyl into the
PC but sounds just like it does on the record.
As you may know, this work covers many of the older instruments and
has been regarded as a rather definitive collection.
I really do hope this isn't how it sounded.
Me thinks it is, which would account for HG players being banned from
some cities...
