Hello Marc,

I guess it is a question of trial and error on each instrument (differente
string length) to get the right gauge (with some help with string
calculators), and also maybe it would involve making a new chien; a string
as heavy as such to get a low C/D as a trompette, will most likely result in
a slow response, therefore some fiddling when sculpting a new dog or
modifying the one you have is necessary, to get a more precise buzz.

Asking your luthier or someone who has passed through the test will at least
save you wasting some strings to find the right one.

Regards,

Oscar.
