Hello,

Ajvar (from Wikpedia):
Ajvar or ayvar ( [[Serbian and Macedonian Cyrillic]]: Ајвар
)(pronounced [ˈajvar]) is a relish made principally from red bell peppers,
with eggplant, garlic and chili pepper. It is predominantly popular in the
Balkans. Its origins are in the Republic of Macedonia where it is
traditionally homemade. Grocery store ajvar is very popular in Croatia and
Bosnia and Herzegovina. Depending on capsaicin content in bell peppers and
the amount of added chili peppers, it can be sweet, piquant (the most
common), or very hot.
Ajvar can be consumed as a bread spread, an addition in sandwiches, a
condiment (often used with grilled or roasted meat), or a salad.

Sterz (translated from Wikipedia):
Sterz is an typical simple mash from Styria (a province of Austria), made
from buckwheat-flour (Heidensterz), cornmeal (Tuerkensterz) or potatoes.
Like other mashes made from grain Sterz was known historical as an
poor-peoples-meal. Today farmers and farm-workers in Styria and Carinthia
still eat Sterz as an "Gabelfruehstueck" (which means a meal between
breakfast and lunch), often mixed with lard or greaves.

Best regards

Ernst (Vienna/Austria)

Betreff: [HG] Ajvar & Sterz

I just received this wonderful album (Ajvar & Sterz) by Matthias
Loibner and Natasa Mirkovic-De Ros. Whoever on the list recommended it--I
thank you!
One question: What does Ajvar & Sterz mean??

Thanks and regards,
Leonard Williams
