I have a 3 chanterelle Weischelbaumer Canto that i currently have set up with
unison D strings and a low G. I would like to experiment with more of a
traditional french sound and replace one of the D strings with a high d. I am
currently using Viola strings for the chanters. Would a Violin e work as the
octave d? I realize serious shimming at both ends will likely be needed, but i
would like to give it a try. Its not going to be permanent as I have a 'quiet
D' and a 'loud D" the quiet string works well behind singers.

thanks
