Thanks, this helps! I pushed updates to https://github.com/scottmarlow/hibernate-orm/commits/ServiceContributorTest and squashed my commits. The good news is that MyRegionFactoryInitiator#resolveRegionFactory + MyRegionFactoryInitiator#contribute are being called. :) I'm not sure why MyRegionFactoryInitiator#fallback doesn't get called.
