Hi,

I'm curious what is planned for the "CMP engine".
Does include (or consist of) a more mature JCA implementation?
Or is it more related to integrating Hibernate into JBoss?

The reason I ask is that we are planning to enhance/rewrite the 2.1 JCA
to implement features that we need (e.g. transaction support).
We'd like to contribute our enhancements back to Hibernate but I'm not
sure what timeframe that would be in.

So if the 2.2 development is going to be working on the JCA then we
might be able to contribute.
On the other hand, if 2.2 has a better way of using Hibernate in the
J2EE container then we'd like to know now, so that we don't waste
out time heading down a dead end :)

thanks

Subject: [Hibernate] 2.2 Road Map

I will try to find time to properly update the road map and
get a proper todo list together, but just so everyone knows
where we are at, "big" features for 2.2 will include:

* Support for generics (Gavin?)
* Support for JSR-175 annotations (Emmanuel)
* Session event architecture (Steve)
* Standard stored procedure persister (Max?)
* New HQL parser (Joshua)
* CMP engine (Alex)
* Temporal/Regional data (Gavin)
* Bulk delete (Gavin?)
* Improvements to JBoss Cache integration (Ben)
* "Dynamic" and named entities (Gavin)

If anyone wants to take on the things with "?", let me
know.

That makes 2.2 a very ambitious release (it might get
renumbered as Hibernate3, potentially). I guess we are on
at least a 6 month timeframe (probably longer) before this
stuff will be of release quality. However, I would like to
start doing alpha releases in 2-3 months if possible.

Gavin
