It is the Java driver that is the problem, not the database right ? Then I know that at least 9i classes12.zip works fine on 10g - atfor testing this primarily.
[steve:] I am assuming you are *not* using the classes12.zip shipped with 10g, right? The numbers at the end do not represent the Oracle version, they represent the JDK version under which the classes were compiled. Thus 10g also has a classes12.zip.
yes - i'm using the 9i version jdbc libraries for 10g.
When we now have this wrapped-resultset will we not try to change thecoreto actually use index's or is it just not worth it ?
[steve:] It's not just a matter of "worth it". This is a fundamental change and would require a lot of work to change. Which of us has this time available? This is a huge change; not particularly difficult, but a lot of work.
well - i know it's not the easist thing to change, thus I would just like to see how big a performance impact/boost the different combinations has... just for information.
I'll write back when i get my time to run test tests.

wrapped-resultset
Because there must be some overhead on doing even thisnow.stuff compared to just using a ordinal index.
