Our Natural Talents Key to the Future?

I testify to the oneness of Allah and the Prophethood of Muhammad, (may

the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his entire household as well as all the Muslim Ummah till the Day of Standing.

I am delighted to express my view on the problem of today's youth and what I think, is the way out.

In the first place, I would like to let my fellow Muslim youth realized that each of us has been created with a provision that will sustain us by Allah throughout our stay in this world. Allah says that He is the one that created us and He is sufficient for our needs. Now, we can ask: Is Allah going to be sending our food and necessities to us from heaven?

No, we will not see Allah sending food down to His creatures on earth but He has added something perfect to our creation and that is our natural talents.

Take Prophet Dawood (David) (peace be upon him) as an example. We learnt that he was talented in making different things with metals without being trained by anybody.

Likewise, Prophet Nuh (Noah) (peace be upon him) built an ark as an instruction from Allah without being trained by anybody. This shows that talent is the provision Allah promised us. But the problem now comes in if we are unable to discover our natural talents. Like a saying from a former UN Secretary General U. Thant that, It is no longer resources that limit decisions, it is decision that makes the resources..  So, if we are able to discover out talents we will be able to provide resources needed for our development.

However, another set back that might come in is how to get the materials needed to put the idea into action. This is affecting the youths that have already discovered their potentials and this needs a lot of prayer to move on.

Therefore, going to colleges and universities to obtain certificates in various fields might not solve the problem of youths in term of job security or self-sustenance. However, some youth are fortunate in choosing a course of study in colleges that is also in line with their natural talents. So, whoever finds himself in a problem of dependency should try and discover his natural talents and make good use of them. And, with prayer, in sha Allah independence will come to pass.
