PEACE BE UPON YOU! This is a group of people who like peace and indent to propagate peace. `Salaam' is an Arabic word, which means `peace'. The word `Islam' is derived from `salaam'. And Islam also means `peace'. So the religion of Islam is the religion of peace. The other meanings of the word Islam are submission, surrender, and obedience. Ø The Submission to the God! Ø The Surrender before the God! Ø The Obedience to the God! Ø And the peace will be granted from Him in this life and in the life hereafter. So a Muslim should be a peaceful fellow, a peace-preacher, a peacemaker, Islam is the most misunderstood religion in the world. So Muslims do what they are doing as Muslims, and non-Muslims think what they are thinking on Islam. Most of them neglected the Quran. Muslims neglected to study and obey. And the non-Muslims are attacking the Islam and the Quran for all doings of Muslims, without regarding, is it Islamic or non-Islamic. Will you please read these verses from the Quran, the Book of Islam: "There has come to you from the God a light and a perspicuous book. Wherewith Allah guides all who seek His pleasure to ways of PEACE. And it leads them out of darkness, to the light, by His will, and guides them to a path that is straight." [Quran 5/17-18]. Assalaam== `the peace' is a name the God. [See Quran 59/23]. "For them will be a home of peace in the presence of their Lord, He will be their friend, because of what they were practicing". [Quran 6/127]. In the heaven "Only the saying Peace, Peace." [Quran56/26]. `Peace'- a word [of salutation] from a Lord Most merciful". [Quran 36/58]. So the Islamic greetings is thus: ASSALAAMU `ALAIKUM == Peace be upon you. And it will be answered thus: VA `ALAIKUMUSSALAAM == Peace be upon you also. By this reason too, let me call Islam the religion of peace.
