At last YBM Tengku Razaleigh said it and said it in no uncertain terms that
Proton, the national car was not a viable business. In fact this had been
the views of all right thinking professionals be it in the government or
private sectors at the time Proton was mooted by Dr.Mahathir. Any way this
is now history. What interest us right now is to undug or reopen the files
to see WHO was this MIDDLEMAN that sold the idea to Mahathir after the
Taiwanese refused the Misibubishi offer. This person who ever he is and
whereever he is should be apprehended. Because of him the entire nation
suffers for 22 years and still suffering just to protect Proton.Could this
man be a Taiwanese by the name of RIN TIN TIN who at one time was a very
powerful man in the 80's-and became Mahathirs mouthpiece. Well he did an
extremely good job convincing Dr. Mahathir. I am sure he is now enjoying
life with all the loot he got for being so closely associated with the No 1
man in the country at one time.

Dear KuLi:

How I, a long time supporter, wish Ku speak up more often and this time
covering more issues, be it political, finance, cultural, and so on. There
is a lot to be learned when listening to him.

Ku also should consider writing a memoir with no punches spared including
Ku's own observations of the ruling elites.

I am a believer that when Ku speaks, people listen. Period.

Having dealth with Taiwan auto industry for a long time, I can testify to
the debate in Taiwan during that time. The believe was basically the small
market size was a guarantee of failure. Watching the Koreans struggling and
the huge cost in Korea then, they realized that the odds was just too
remote.
