"No warning" before UK police shot terror suspect
Controversy is growing over a high profile raid by British anti-terrorist police on Friday in which a suspect was shot. Some 250 police officers took part in the raid after getting intelligence reports that chemical or biological weapons were being prepared in an East London home.
But no such arms have been found and lawyers for the shot man say he was fired on without warning. A solicitor said: "He was in his pyjamas, obviously unarmed, empty handed. As he came down the stairs, police rounded a corner, came up the stairs and shot him, in the chest, immediately.
What if someone who doesn't like you phones the police and claims to have seen bomb-making materials in your home? What if th epolice just kick down your door and open fire on you and your family without warning?
Is this the kind of 'law enforcement' you are comfortable living with?

More proof that the Canadian "terror" arrests are a staged PR hoax
This is slide 8 from a Globe & Mail presentation on the "terrorists". Note the caption that admits that the bag of fertilizer was NOT from the arrest. As for the other items, they are a multi-meter and a soldering iron (items found in most homes, including my own) and a box with a cell phone and some other parts dumped into it. However if you look closely, you can see that the wires aren't connected to anything, they are just draped over the cell phone and circuit board to create a pretty picture.

Graeme Sephton, an engineer and citizen investigator, submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for the FBI lab reports. Mr. Sephton was denied. He initiated a lawsuit. Surprisingly, he won and the court ordered the FBI to produce the reports. Subsequently, the FBI came back and said it had searched for the reports and couldn't find them. The court then ruled that the FBI had made a good faith effort, and Mr. Sephton was denied. The most widely publicized and most expensive accident investigation in the history of aviation, and the FBI loses its own lab reports? That is highly unlikely. Presumably, the objects still exist. Obviously, the FBI does not want the public to know what it found.

The horrors really are your America, Mr Bush
I do not believe that this president has ever acknowledged his own responsibility for the atrocities committed by Americans on his watch and under his command. He simply cannot process the fact that his own hand provided the signature that allowed torture to spread like a cancer through the military and CIA.
He cannot acknowledge that his own war policy of just enough troops to lose has created a war of attrition in Iraq in which soldiers are often overwhelmed and demoralised and stretched to the limit, and so more than usually vulnerable to the psychic snaps that sometimes lead to atrocities.
His obdurate refusal to change course, to provide sufficient troops, to fire his defence secretary, to embrace, rather than evade, the McCain amendment has robbed him of any excuse, any evasion of responsibility.
