Akhbar The Star 27 Nov 2006 melaporkan Kuil Sri Maha Mariamman di Kemaman, Terengganu telah mendapat sumbangan RM 170,000 dari orang ramai dari Angola, Afrika Selatan, Perancis dan Indonesia apabila mereka merayu sumbangan untuk satu majlis di kuil berkenaan dalam tempoh yang singkat melalui internet sahaja. Temple committee chairman R. Marimuthu said the RM170,000 needed for the ceremony was collected within a short period of time when an advisory was placed on the Internet. “The majority who responded with funds were those who had worked in the petroleum industry here,” he said when met during the ceremony on Friday. Some 1,500 devotees from Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan and Johor witnessed the ceremony, which is held once every 12 years. Five days of prayers were held culminating in Friday's consecration ceremony. He said priests from Malaysia and overseas conducted the prayers in accordance with Hindu rites.
