The Port and the Industrial Zone will be developed separately. The Khalifa Port will be developed in 5 phases and will include a container handling terminal and piers for handling raw and bulk cargos. The Port will replace Abu Dhabi's largest existing port, Mina Zayed by 2012. The Mina Zayed port will then be redeveloped into a residential and commercial area. Khalifa Industrial Zone will be developed in 2 Areas (A and B).
