I can't see the configuration directory such that I can alter permissions on
it. I assume this is what I should do as the root user of the CMS?
If you would create the files with a webdav client, you should be able
to see the files from the CMS and configure the correct permissions.
I am using v6.05.02 and 1.2.13
I must be missing something pretty fundamental here.
A WebDAV client is the key. That solve a lot of problems. I do not
recommend changing files in the metadata and content directory of Hippo
Repository.
