Corruption conviction appeal set for Feb 28

10am, FRI: The Court of Appeal will begin hearing sacked deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim�s appeal to his corruption conviction on Feb 28. Anwar was found guilty by High Court judge Augustine Paul last year for using his position to pressure police officers to intimidate two individuals who had accused him of sodomy and sexual misconduct. He was sentenced to a jail term of six years and is currently standing trial for sodomy. Defence lawyers told malaysiakini that the appeal process would take about one week and if it coincides with Anwar�s sodomy trial, they would seek a postponement.
