An-Nur : 31
And say to the
believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that
they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily)
appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not
display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's
fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers'
sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right
hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who
have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in
order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye
all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss.

Asma, daughter of
AbuBakr, entered upon the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) wearing thin
clothes. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) turned his attention from her.
He said: O Asma', when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it does not suit
her that she displays her parts of body except this and this, and he pointed to
her face and hands.

order your wife to wear a garment below it and not show her figure.

Hurayra said, "Women who are naked even though they are wearing clothes, go

will not find its scent, and its scent is experienced from as far as the
distance travelled in five hundred years."

garments, and shroud your dead in them. Among the best types of collyrium you
use is antimony (ithmid) for it clears the vision and makes the hair sprout.

Pakaian yang sebaiknya ialah yang menutup aurat. Warna, fesyen, fabrik, design, semuanya bersifat urufi dan relatif dengan perkembangan zaman... Islam tidak datang untuk memperincikan suruhannya dengan sedetail itu. Kelak jadilah kita seperti kisah Lembu Betina (alBaqarah itu); tak usahlah kita menjadi seperti umat yahudi, yang asalnya disuruh menyembelih lembu betina, lalu mereka mula bertanyaka detailnya dan hampir-hampir mereka gagal mencari lembu itu. Maka pakaian dalam islam pun begitulah, janganlah kita cuba nak detailkan sempai serban, kopiah, warna jilbab, labuhnya... maka ini akan memberatkan mereka nanti... hingga mereka tidak mampu melaksanakannya kelak.
