DAP quits BA
4:31pm, Sat: breaking news
The DAP has decided today to withdraw from the
opposition Barisan Alternatif coalition.
At an urgent meeting this afternoon, the party's
central executive committee resolved to quit BA, with
13 votes in favour of the withdrawal, two against and
three abstentions.
The recent DAP Congress had given full mandate to the
CEC to resolve the Islamic state controversy with BA
partner, PAS.
DAP and PAS leadership had met for two hours in Kuala
Lumpur this morning in the latest of a series of
meetings held between the two parties to resolve the
issue that has been the bane of the opposition front
recently.
According to the DAP, the party had come up a
five-point formula to resolve the issue but no
agreement could be reached on it, leading to the CEC's
decision today.
