The HL7 Browser is more an interactive tool, some of the other  
nule.org utilities like 'HL7 Comm':

Support any database that has jdbc drivers, including embedded DBs  
like javadb (derby).  One of the logic scripts it comes with  
demonstrates inserting fields into a mysql table.

It has a bigger brother, HCM:

http://nule.org/wp/?page_id=229

That lets you run multiple HL7 Comm instances and control and monitor  
them with a browser.
