Yeah that sounds like the same tests we had. Higher spec machines appear to just bottom out and we're trying to over come it becasue we coudl really use particles instead of sprites for a certain weapon we're planning on having. But surely i can't be a driver issue for Gforce cards unless there's a bug in HL which doesn't work well with the most recent or last recent detonator drivers. The funny thing is that the gforce chipsets are widely used, and come to think of it I don't know of any mods that use particles much. Perhaps triAPI simply has a bug relating to the chipset.
