[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] If you're working at id, chances are you could rewrite anything Valve had in the first place. They're a relatively small team, I'm guessing you have to be damn good to be hired.
As for other developers, I guess it depends on their integrity. It would be hard for a single person to do anything with the code, as it would require changes that multiple people would eventually be aware of. It also depends on just how much the code can help them. From my experience, a lot of professional developers have enough honesty (and ego) to not even care or want to glean anything from others' code. Although a lot are cut throat. I say don't worry yourself about it :) >From: "Predatory Kangaroo" >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: [hlcoders] Implications... >Date: Mon, 06 Oct 2003 22:28:02 +0700 > >OK, In this message i'm not even going to mention the source, except >in >mentioning that I don't have it. >What I'm wondering is: What implications will this have with all the >other >game manufacturers? >Of course iD software wouldn't download the leak and rip off >sections of >code (hopefully), but what if one of their employees comes into >posession of >said leak and is 'inspired' by it? >What would this say for the success of HL2? >P.S.
