No, I'm still here. I've had my head down doing work on getting working shaders back in the SDK as well as helping to figure out a problem with procedural textures.
Regarding the Linux problems: I need to do some more testing because I thought that the engine update three weeks ago fixed all of the issues. It definitely (according to my testing) addressed the issue of older mods not working with the newer engine - that was the physics displacement issue.
