-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Eureka! I finally figured it out.. I was using a sound recording program called Total Recorder. It's a pretty uncommon program that is used to record sounds coming out of the sound card (without the need for any auxilary cable). It behaves as a secondary sound card and I guess that's what was confusing HL2...
Anyways, I uninstalled this program and voila, no more freezing. Maybe I should post this up on steampowered forums.... God, that was a painful 4 days. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Minh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2007 3:44 PM Subject: Re: [hlcoders] Initializing Game Data Freeze.... > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > That didn't work either :( thanks neways. > > I've tried everything short of reinstalling Windows > - I've downloaded and installed the latest vid drivers (even tried some of > the older drivers as well) > - reinstalled Directx 9c > - tried running at different directx levels (7, and 8 respectively) > - I even tried creating a new multiplayer mod and compiled the source code > and ran it again and it still freezes at the same spot. > > There's just something different about this new soure sdk base + the old > SDK > Source code that just isn't jiving with my system.
