Well, I may not be able to tell you WHY they are crashing for no reason, but
in the event of a server crash you may want to use ServerDoc
(http://winsoft.net.au/%7Estephen/serverdoc/ it restarts applications that
have either crashed or shutdown on accident - works in W2k) or FireDaemon
(runs programs as a service in NT4/W2k, and the site has a "How-to" on
running Half-Life based servers http://www.firedaemon.com/ )
The server I normally play on has been crashing a lot as well for no reason,
but the Op runs Server Doc, so we just wait about 5-7 seconds and we can
reconnect. Hope these utilites are useful for you.
