ok this is how I do it here on my computer running W2k. hltv.exe +connect 1.2.3.4 -maxclients 8 -nomaster <-- my command line Once I verify that it is connected to the server I fire up my HL/CS client. >From there I go straight to the console, and type connect 4.3.2.1:27020 in other words, I connect to my OWN ip, NOT the game server. The thing to remember is to specify port 27020, as that is the defualt port hltv.exe uses.
