The big problem with that is the strain it puts on the master servers.
At some point, we're going to redo the way the server browser works at a lower level. This should help out with the problem. The reason: There is a refresh and an update.. many people do not know to update more often than they do.. Someone who never updates the list will refresh for months against you.. with millions of players.. that will be often.. especially those that dont filter for the game they want to play... *** VALVE: anyway to add to the wishlist next engine update for force an update every 48 hours even if they hit the refresh button. I dont think this is unreasonable and will help out the newer servers... -----Original Message----- From: Ross Ledger [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, October 04, 2001 2:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Hiding from the master server I believe it is the heartbeat from Won servers , but if my memory serves me well that Gamespy was the main culprit in my case - It used to happen most when I stopped the server for any length of time.
