If you Boost 1 server, you boost all HLDS processes on that Box

As others have mentioned, the boosting process changes the Windows Mulitmedia
Timer in an attempt to make the HLDS more responsive.

Running as a service helps, since it is less CPU intensive to do so, but then
you put those unused CPU cycles to better use by allowing your HLDS to run its
calculations faster.

Reading the Guides in the http://www.unitedadmins.com[1] forum where the
Booster Program lives will help clear up most of your questions.

Subject: [hlds] sys_ticrate on win2k3
Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2004 19:52:04 -0500
Quick question, archives show this mentioned but not answered. On my win2k3
box, sys_ticrate does nothing for 3 instances. If one instance runs the
hlbooster MM plugin, then all instances can use their own sys_ticrate
properly (2 without the hlbooster plugin). However, a server that uses 1-5%
of the cpu at 16 players normally jumps to approximately 60% with an fps of
about 125 using this method.
Is there some way to get the sys_ticrate funcitoning without hlbooster?
