logon via a termial\remote desktop session; open the player and disconnect
your session. If you like you could also setup a flash(one thats in .exe
form) to run as a service.  (theromp.com ones have worked fine for me for
ages), lastly you could write something to manually screw with your system's
mm timer rate.  I've written examples how to do that in the past which
should be buried in the archives somewhere in the 2002-2003 time frame.

And of course as someone else said google is your friend.
