In my humble opinion Valve goofed majorly when the let Steam incorporate old
WON keys.
Input old WON key ... output a valid steam ID
I am guessing this is how it was compromised.

Throw away all your WON keys ... Soon they will have to start from scratch.
Get out yer check books too.

Take it easy bud...this is not the end of steam. It may have been hacked,
but this is how security evolves.

Too bad we couldn't get all of those old pro-WON guys on our side of the
fence...maybe they could do some DoS attacks on the mirrors of this
exploit...lol.

LOL...but STEAM was going to be such an "improvement" to the gaming
world...LOL

I could use this opportunity to help, if I could, but Valve brought this
about when WON seemed a valid option to begin with and broke the golden rule
of "if it isn't broke don't fix it" as they've done so many times in the
past. I don't remember us having these issues before. Now we have a site up
and running on the internet that is EASY to track their hosting source and
owner and nobody is doing a damn thing about it. Now THAT'S what I call
efficiency of a software company. So many people of professional positions
in this list and this has been allowed to continue. That site lists 100,000
hits in one month. GG Valve.

Is being cynical in this situation inappropriate? I'm not sure. Flame away
if that's your prerogative but I didn't ask for this STEAM garbage, I never
thought it was a good idea, I tested the full 10 months and was appalled to
see it released to the public and then forced on all of us. But hey, what
could we do but go with the flow. Now we have this out. WOW. I'll try to
enjoy the game for the last few weeks before this is on a good portion of
the kids playing STEAM before the roof falls in on Valve. But you know,
really, you get what you deserve in the end and I think that maybe Valve
deserved this kick in the ass to SHOW them that they can be wrong and
fallible sometimes and that by ignoring the community that GIVES their
customers a place to play is just plain STUPID! I've said it over a year ago
and I'll say it again, I don't see Valve Software running not ONE server for
their customers and never have. WE run those servers and now we have good
reason not to anymore.

For those of us running servers for the STEAM line of games...may God help
us all....because we damn sure know that Valve won't be doing it any time
soon. (Based on a long history of dumb decisions) /me makes a mental note to
write down amount of servers running STEAM today and reference that number
weekly to see how many people stop giving legitimate and these new
illegitimate players a place to play.

Heh, download is going slower than expected, you won't hear results for
12+ hours o.O

Stupid 10k/sec downloads. Though, I suppose that's a good thing in a way...

Okay, I have my theory, but I can't test it as the download link is a little
odd.

By visiting the site you get the main idea:

"Non Steam:1 Steam: 0
Written by Diesel Power

Now its possible to play Non Steam in Steam servers, visit forum section and
go to tutorial section. Enjoy ;) tks to http://www.nonsteampowered.tk/ Last

Many mirrors:

ion/

Steam has been well and truly compromised now, assuming these claims are
true (I will verify them and report back soon) - For now you will have to
ban IP ranges or bans will be useless.

I do hope someone at VALVe notices this, and I also hope the people on this
list maintain maturity and do not abuse this program - it is illegal after
all.
