I call shenanigans.

You guys are right, the 40-50% increase is running full 64bit support, its 20-30% increase running 32bit. Windows 64bit is being optimized so much its insaine. I'm running a full production Active Directory enviornment off one 4proc Opteron system. I have another for redundancy sake, but they are running the 64bit os, not 32bit. And I can say that they destroy an 8 proc P3 Xeon that I had hands down without even blinking. I'm purchasing AMD stock thats for sure and it would make since that they produce an amd 64bit version of the HLDS server for the windows OS to take advantage of the computing horsepower if they have not already done so.

My hlds is ALWAYS a LAN server. Now, I was told to go to
www.portforward.com
and forward the ports, but this has not worked. I own a Belkin F5D5231-4,
followed all the instructions carefully and prescisely, and it still does
not work.

Does anyone have any idea what could be stopping it?

Mike,

Thanks. We get a free unlimited connection and rack space for testing
winOS beta. Also, the hardware only gets upgraded once every 2.5
years. I do understand that emulation is bad, and for now, the money
for the short term 64bit hardware would be wasted. With that in mind,
I'm still looking for somebody that may have also beta tested win64
either with opteron or athlon64 processors. And if there was a
preferred value configuration.

I will let you know how poorly it turns out.

=)

it is shenanegans tbh, but still "significantly" faster tbh, but not
that level :). I'd personally estimate at 20% faster.

sv_lan should be set to 0 (sv_lan 0). It is a cvar that tells the server
whether to access the internet in accepting clients, or only accept
connections from within the local network.

Subject: [hlds] There is a serious Logging Bug since BETA...
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[ Converted text/html to text/plain ]

Hello everyone!
I want to report a serious issue with the logging capabilities of
CS:Source.
This bug exists since the BETA, I reported it many times but it never got
fixed. Now as there are coming more and more LOG Parsers out I guess its
time
to do something against this bug. I copy the description of this bug from
the
Forum Post I posted some days ago:

Original post:
http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=162488[1]

----------------------

Hello !

Many of you dont know it... but many people are already beginning with some
kind of stats logging. I just wanted to inform you, that the current state
of
the cs:s dedicated server version does not allow accurate log parsing ala
PsychoStats, HLStats...!

The Log Output of CS:S sometimes misses connect lines as well as entered
the
game lines. Well this wouldnt be much of a problem if there were not the
problem that sometimes KILLS get logged as suicides! (Log_level 15 does not
help!)

I got log files even from servers all over the world and tried it (I guess
this were all windows servers) and I could verify the missing log lines.

You can also track when this happens. Just open the Server in VGUI mode and
look at the Players TAB -> You will see that sometimes players are playing
on
the server but not showing up in this tab! Exactly when this happens ->
Everyone who kills a player not in this players list get logged as being
suicided!

I tested it with standard configs, log_levels, console mode, VGUI mode, I
got
logs from different servers -> everywhere the same problem! We really have
to
push this to valve so they will know it. I reported this problem since the
BETA but it always got ignored!

Kind regards and plz help us fix this,

LD

----------------------

The main problem with this bug is, that it gets ignored by most of the
people(thats why it gets rarely reported) -> I brought this up on many
forums
but many people said no everything works fine, because it doesnt happen all
the time and not everyone is so nit-picking as me. But when I told them
they
should believe me if they dont they should give me me their log files and
homepages so I can give them some evidence -> I checked it for them and now
they believe me too. Missing kills, kills reported as suicides etc. <- that
are just the problems I can identify... In the forum post above I already
described when exactly the problem appears...

So I really hope VALVe can fix those issue otherwise we will never be able
to
do accurate stats logging. I guess its just one bug which causes this
behavriour, but we need to track it down and find it...

Thanks for listeningl,

LD
