Maybe I'm dreaming of Panacea, but it would be wonderful to have the server community fully prepared, tested and running with admin tools prior to any client release. The quality of the gaming experience depends upon that support. And while Valve's track record hasn't been stellar, through the efforts of Eric, Alfred, et al , that support has dramatically improved (you old timers know what I mean). Keeping this community abreast of critical developments would be another facet of that improved customer service.
Kerry "Boogieman" Dorsey Mike's Marauders!!
Like a lot of mod developers, they seem to like the element of surprise. It catches people off guard and usually gets more support, so not keeping everyone up to date on the exact process of everything doesn't mean their support system sucks, it just means they'd rather work on it and get it done then waste time reporting stuff to people.

Hence the flaw in their customer service. The element of surprise is a favorite ploy of code jockies to keep the "heat" off . It's the job of their management to insulate the customer from that lack of communication by squeezing the info out of the team. Keeping your customers appraised of progress isn't a hindrance, it's a necessity to conducting business.
