Or just tell me what you think would be best for a: 8 player server 16 player server 20 player server 32 player server etc...

*Server Requirements for Source Engine* Gabe was recently questioned by www.hl2world.com <http://www.hl2world.com/> regarding requirements for running a Source Engine based game server. You may be in for a small surprise:
*quote:* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ HL2World:Can you give me some specs on recommended minimum requirements for a dedicated server [running Source engine based games]?
Gabe Newell:They are basically the same. There's more information going across the wire but the protocol is more efficient so it ends up being a wash(about 2.4 Kbps per client if I remember correctly). CPU load is actually down quite a bit, but most servers weren't CPU bound anyhow. These numbers are for CS: Source in comparison to CS: GoldSrc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
-note: "CS: GoldSrc" is CS based on HL1 egine.
Nothing but good news for server admins interested in the source engine, or those thinking of starting up a server with those extra parts laying around after they upgrade their computer to play HL2. The article, with some comments here <http://www.hl2world.com/article249.html>. ............................................................................................................
So yeah, apart from their spelling errors, that might give you an idea =)
