Subject: [hlds] OT: Belkin replacement.

1) Tell us which router you have. I used a Belkin router and could never

get

it to work. Belkin tech support was worthless, and I never got it to

work. I

got rid of the router, problem went away.

Complete aside....

I was messing with my belkin pile of plastic junk again today,
forwarding ports for web, ftp and mysql, so that I can share some dev
work with a remote colleague. Anyway, I spotted a trend. The items
that are in the "virtual server" list all work exactly as they are
supposed to (ftp/www), but set up your own custom one (mysql), then it
has no interest in working properly!

This has ticked me off for long enough, so any suggestions for a
sensibly priced replacement for a belkin F5D5231-4??

TIA

Stephen

I'm using a Linksys WRT54G. I'm using firmware from sveasoft, but it has some serious DHCP issues, so I'm still looking for a reliable firmware. The one supplied from Linksys is pretty lame.

Netgear is good feature wise, but they have a limited nat table, which can
cause problems on high traffic/volume servers. Netgears latest firmware
causes regular reboots and is not very reliable (unless they fixed it -
again).

Cisco is the only way to go - I *never* had any problems with my Cisco.

heh heh Cisco.... I wish.....

Any thoughts on the Linksys *BEFSR41? It seems to have got a lot of
good reviews, I only need to connect two PCs and a wireless hub to it
and the traffic is only high when I push large or lots of work related
files around. The delight of a small home office.... :)
