It works fine. We run a consortium of public 24/7 servers. We have a cron
job which synch's the banned.cfg files to all of our public servers. Here's
the latest figure:

=== begin ===

[EMAIL PROTECTED] [/]# banem -total

##########################
# BanEm v1.9
##########################

server: redbrick-1 (Oracle 9i)
status: idle

There are 6114 current permanent bans
There are 207 current time-limit bans

=== end ===

I would recommend against building a large banned.cfg for the sake of it.

We probably run as big a banned.cfg as anybody, but I cringe at the
thought of what HLDS would do if we dumped another 5000 STEAM_ID's in
there, just for the hell of it.
