HLDS/SourceDS both install into their own directories, making it a very neat and portable server (ie, no registry settings, no system files; everything lives inside the directory you install it to). Just download the hldsupdatetool.exe from the Steam website and run it without any parameters to see the list of available commands. If you plan on running both HLDS and Source games, you will need to install HLDS in its own directory (say c:\hlserver) and Source in its own directory (maybe c:\srcds). Individual games install into their directories beneath that, like c:\hlserver\cstrike or c:\srcds\cstrike. You can run multiple games from a single installation. That is, you can run both CS1.6 and DOD from the same c:\hlserver directory as long as you have the appropriate resources. It sounds like you're going to be running this at home, so make sure that you setup your router appropriately to allow traffic on the correct ports. There's a *ton* of information about this available on the Steam website and in the archives of this list. -- ironchef http://www.dexworld.org/ _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
