It doesn't make a real difference from a players perspective while playing,
but it does on map loads, and if windows for whatever reason starts using
virtual memory or if the disks are being heavily used for whatever means.

I'm not talking about people only running one game server on a machine, I'm
talking about environments where u the servers are continually running and
where u can expect spikes in hdd i/o on certain occasions.

Besides that, desktop drives are made for pc's they are not intended for
24/7/365 usage (imo) that was really what I meant in regard to what hard
drives to use, by my reply to trunky's post. Off course you're entitled to
see it differently, but that's just my opinion.

I would be suprised if 5400RPM drives showed any noticeable difference
on a server only running HLDS.
