Man, that's a bummer it wont work with my high speed HTTP download server.
I have been using the HTTP fast transfer for sometime now, but I was really
looking for a way to speed up the downloads even faster. I run a 32 slot
DOD 1.3 server on the west coast and have been wanting to run lots of custom
maps. But many of the players leave when going to a custom map because it
will still take them almost 1 minute to download a 4MB map.

It would be nice if the ztmp format could be fixed to work with fast asset
HTTP. :(
Thank you for all your responses people.

Compressed content (ztmp) on fast HTTP download does not function for HL1
games (win32 or linux) but does work directly from the server.

You don't need to manually compress the content, the server will do it
automatically assuming you have this server CVAR set:

sv_filetransfercompression 1

Does bzip2 file compression work for hl1 mods.

I have read a ton of stuff about this on the steam forums but the info is
not really complete.

Can anyone shed some light on how this would be done and is bzip2 the
program to use.

Specs. Running dod1.3 on linux fedora core. But I have no root access,
So I would be compressing the .bsp files on my windows box. I suppose I
could get my host to do this if it is indeed possible. Thank you all in
advance.
