sv_lan =3d 0 is an invalid command. dude learn to read. the command you were told to use was
*sv_lan = 0* To be fair i think the task you have undertaken is about 3 steps up the computer skills ladder than where you are. but FYI if you go start, contol panel, network connections, then right click on your network device and click on status on one of the tabs it will tell you your ip address. you have to check that address is the one you have assign to the port you wanna forward, check www.portforward.com for more info. Also it is important what the model of your linksys router is. It's usually on the sticky label on the bottom. if your ping has raised since you had a play with the settings that's a bad thing. Ping is all about the lower the better. If the game you are running is a hl1 variant, on my network if it was more than 0 i would be worried. For hl2/source based games on my network i would except as much as 10 but it's never usually more than 5. so you see your values are what i would call unusually high. And finally if you computers ip address is dynamically assigned every time you turn your computer on it's ip addy could be different. so you'll want to find out how to make it statically assigned. hope this keeps you busy for a lil while. john flabergaster wrote: > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > Ok first thing, i tried typing in sv_lan =3d 0 and i restarted my server. > When it came back on it couldnt connect to the steam servers and couldnt add > master servers.
